The API went down for around 12 minutes this morning, intermittently between 9:41PM ET and 9:54AM ET. This was caused by our infrastructure reaching a resource limit with our hosting provider: while we have monitoring of such limits, our system went from negligible usage to maximum usage with such rapidity that our staff was unable to take action in time.

We had foreseen this as a potential issue and were testing an update that we believed would prevent it from occurring. Our staff released this update ahead of schedule, which brought the API back online as soon as it was in place.

We believe that this update fixed the underlying problem permanently, but since it had not been completely tested, our staff will be watching our systems closely for the next day or two to ensure system stability.
